Art-On-First Clayton
Saturday, August 16, 2008 by Donna.
I think Art-On-First Clayton was a success this evening. Everyone was creating and talking and having a good time. It was raining out, but I think it made the evening even better. I love it when it rains and only rains. It’s a soothing sound to put you in a creative mood. The only problem we had is the roof started to leak in the class room. Luckily it didn’t last, so we are hoping it was just the gutters that were clogged and pushing the water in, but it’s possible there is a bad shingle. Hopefully it is a simple as that.
Tonight we continued with Visual Journaling. It’s not something you can do in one night, so we will probably have a few more meet-ups to work on the journals. We may go to two nights a month paint, or mosaics, or if anyone has a suggestion, let us know.

What’s Happening at The Eye of the Eagle Art!
Saturday, August 9, 2008 by Donna.
Yes, what is happening? I haven’t written a post in a while. It seems like yesterday when I posted, but I looked at the date and well, time sure does fly when your having fun.
We have been having a lot of fun at the Eye of the Eagle Art center. We aren’t having adult art classes during the summer - they will resume in September - which has given us the time to finish the classroom with new paint and we tore up that ugly brown carpeting and painted the sub-floor in light blue with paint splatters every where. Hey it’s a class room, so if anyone spills paint on the floor it won’t matter. They get to add to the design. The kids will like.
We have had the front stairs fixed to code, and on Monday or Tuesday they will be installing the hand rails. We also had the 1st part of the plumbing installed, then we have the inspection done, they finish the plumbing, then another inspection and so on. It’s a boring process and I won’t bore you with it. So we are ever closer to opening the Gallery and retail section.
Also, we have had 2 Art on First Meetups and have had a lot of fun. Cheryl McCardle gave basic instructions on Visual Journaling and Abstract Painting and then left us to create a master piece. I created a master piece at the Abstract Painting Meetup…well I think it is a Master Piece. If you want to see it, it will be hanging at the Clayton Center in September during the CVA’s Art Competition.
We have the 3rd one scheduled for August 15th. Members asked that we have the Visual Journaling Meetup again. So we are. You can join the Meetup by going to Art on First - Clayton There is no cost to you, but donations are excepted. We will have snacks and drinks. So, come join us. Space is limited, register soon. We have 8 spaces left.
We are still working on what we will do at the 4th Meetup and will post it soon.
Well I better get to work finishing up the painting in the Galleries.
Have a great weekend! Donna
