Christmas Village in Downtown Clayton

The Eye of the Eagle Art is hosting an Open House/Artist Reception during the Christmas Village and Tree Lighting event in Downtown Clayton on December 3rd until 9:00 pm. The Christmas Village and Tree Lighting events start at 6:00 pm.

The town will be transformed into a Christmas Village and the Clayton High School Band, Color Guard and Chorus will perform. Businesses will be open and a special guest will light the tree in the Town Square. Check out the schedule here

The Eye has over 350+ tiny art pieces in “World's Largest tiny Art Show” exhibit in the Green Room for $50 and under. You may even find a piece of art that someone on your list would love to own, or you can put it on your wish list and we will let your loved ones know. What a better way to start a collection.

We have more art and gifts in the Gray Room and the Eagles Nest. Gift certificates are available for purchase and can be used to purchase art supplies, art or an art class.

Enjoy viewing the art by local artists in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Talk with the artists and ask them about their art. They love talking about what they do and why they do it.

A few questions you could ask:

  • What was your inspiration for this piece?
  • What is the medium used in that piece?
  • How long have you been painting, creating?
  • Did you go to school or are you self taught?

If you really want to know, ask, because they really want to tell you.

Art Social Networks

There are a number of Social Networks on the internet, but which ones give you more pay back for your time spent on them? You network to make new contacts, sell your goods or services, or just to keep in touch with loved ones and old classmates. But you can spend a lot of your time networking, less time actually working.

What I would like to find is 1 Network, 1 account that I can post to and then link my posts to all the other networks I belong to without going to each one.

What I did find, is that iGoogle has gadgets you can add to the "home" page. You can add a gadget for Twitter and Facebook and update them from iGoogle instead of going to each website. Also, Twitter links to Facebook. So if you post to Twitter, it will post to Facebook.

Here are a couple I belong to.

Ning.com is a social network for world wide users with specific interests and passions and you can join one of the networks, or start your own. I started one. http://EyeOfTheEagleArt.ning.com I have 4 members. But I try to post to the blog, just in case someone goes to our website and clicks on Blog. You can set up the pages with the information you want on it. I thought it was easier to work with then facebook, but again, finding time to post to it.

Facebook.com - seems like everyone is on it, so you don't want to be the person who isn't, so you join. You can create groups and pages and a number of things I can't find after I create them. The pages and groups are connected to your account, but how does anyone know about it. There is no tab on my Facebook page that shows the pages I have. So how do my friends know about them? Still learning Facebook, but I like it much better the Myspace.com

Do you have a favoirte Social Network?

Art-On-First

Art-On-First - 3rd Friday of every month.

I found this online and thought it was cute.

"Bean Day - January 6 - On this day, you can pay tribute to beans, all kinds of them. Send someone you care about a card to share your love of the bean of your choice. Sit down with your family and have several servings of beans. Just don't light a match."

I don't know about the last sentence, but I know there are some creative individuals out there who like a challenge and can create something spectacular with a bean, if nothing else, something humorous.

Are you up for the challenge?

As all ways, you can bring a project you are working on.

Date: Third Friday of every month! Next gathering is January 15th
Time: 6:30 - 9:00 pm
Cost: $5 per person due at the door

If you can make it, please sign up at Art-On-First so we save your spot. If you are not a Facebook member, then send us an email with Art-On-First in the Subject line.

Put a little color in your life, music in your soul and words in your heart.

Support your local artists and visit an art gallery today, or attend a concert of your favorite musicians, or purchase a book of your favorite author or poet.

We need them all in our lives or our world would be without color, without rhythm and without words to speak.
